What this bond does

The license bond is filed with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors for the commercial contracting classification on the application. It is separate from a performance or payment bond requested for a particular construction contract.

Who needs it
Businesses preparing a commercial-only Arizona contractor license bond and matching the commercial general or specialty classification in their ROC application.
Who it protects
The ROC sample binds the principal and surety to the State of Arizona for the benefit of people described in A.R.S. §32-1152. Those statutory conditions, not the broad commercial-only label, define the bond's protection.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Identify general or specialty before choosing the amount

ROC has separate commercial general and commercial specialty bond schedules. For anticipated annual gross volume of $150,000 or less, its table lists $5,000 for commercial general and $2,500 for commercial specialty; higher volume bands have different amounts.

Use your actual classification and the full ROC schedule. The amount is based on anticipated annual gross volume per license, not simply the value of the next project. This offering's title alone does not choose the schedule for you.

Name the licensed business, not just the qualifying person

ROC says the contractor license belongs to the business rather than the qualifying party. Prepare the applicant's legal identity and any DBA as they appear in the license application.

A commercial-only license is distinct from a dual license covering residential and commercial work. Do not use a commercial-only amount as proof that a dual obligation is satisfied.

Continue from Propeller issuance to ROC filing

Purchase Now opens Propeller in a new tab. Apply with the ROC classification, business identity and required amount, then review the issued document's execution.

ROC describes direct portal upload by participating sureties and manual upload when the surety is not associated with its portal. Confirm which route applies to your application; this page does not promise an automatic provider upload or an approved license.

Sources

Have these ready

  1. Have the commercial classification from the ROC license application.
  2. Identify the applicable general or specialty volume band and required amount.
  3. Use the licensed business's legal name and any DBA, not only the qualifying party's name.
  4. After issuance, check execution and confirm the applicable ROC filing route.

Questions about this bond

Does commercial-only mean commercial general?

Not by itself. ROC publishes separate commercial general and specialty schedules. Match the classification you are applying for before selecting the required amount.

Is the bond amount based on one job?

ROC bases it on the license classification and anticipated annual gross volume per license. A single project value is not the whole calculation.

Will Propeller automatically file with ROC?

No automatic filing promise is made here. ROC allows participating sureties to upload and describes manual upload for other sureties. Confirm the route applicable to your application.
