What this bond does

Provide the license security required by the Arizona Registrar of Contractors for the commercial specialty classification shown on your application or existing license.

Who needs it
Commercial specialty contractors applying for, renewing or maintaining an Arizona ROC license. A dual residential/commercial license needs its separately stated residential and commercial security; this commercial offering should not be treated as the whole dual requirement.
Who it protects
The State of Arizona is the named obligee for the statutory beneficiaries under A.R.S. §32-1152. Commercial security supports ROC claims for unpaid statutory sums and eligible direct-contract claims involving licensed contractors or nonresidential owners, co-owners, lessees and their successors for construction that fails applicable codes or, where no code applies, ROC standards. It is not blanket insurance against every business debt.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Details

Use the exact commercial specialty classification number and title. For example, ROC's instructions identify C-11 Electrical as a commercial classification. General commercial, residential and dual licenses have different schedules; the word 'contractor' alone is not enough to choose the form.

ROC's published commercial specialty schedule runs from $2,500 to $50,000, based on anticipated annual gross work volume in Arizona for the license. Supply your projected volume and any individual ROC increase instruction rather than assuming the smallest sum applies.

The ROC license bond incorporates §32-1152. Commercial direct-contract claims have statutory eligibility and construction-standard requirements; the residential labor-and-material protection should not simply be copied onto this commercial bond. Total liability, including qualifying attorney fees, is limited to the bond's face amount across its continuous life. It does not reset each year.

The principal's legal name and DBA, where used, must match the license application and applicable Arizona Corporation Commission record. Complete ROC's form, classification, sum, bond number, required signatures and notarial acknowledgment. A continuous bond has no scheduled termination date; the surety's cancellation requires advance notice to both ROC and the principal. Keep replacement security on file to avoid license suspension.

Purchase Now opens RLI's Arizona specialty-commercial application in a new tab. Bring the exact entity and classification, projected Arizona volume, license number if issued and ROC's amount instruction. Before paying, check the issued form and effective date. ROC permits associated sureties to upload through its portal and otherwise permits applicant upload; confirm which route applies to this application. Filing and license approval are separate from purchase, and a later stated effective date controls over filing.

Have these ready

  1. Confirm the commercial specialty classification number and full trade title.

  3. Match the legal entity, DBA and existing license number to the ROC application.
  4. Arrange the completed ROC bond and its signatures, acknowledgment and filing route.

Questions about this bond

Can I use the general-commercial bond amount?

Not just because your jobs are commercial. ROC publishes a separate commercial specialty schedule, with the amount tied to the license's anticipated Arizona volume.

Does this cover the residential part of a dual license?

Do not assume so. ROC requires dual security to state the commercial and residential penal sums separately. Match both portions to the actual dual classification.

Does the bond guarantee payment of every supplier invoice?

No. Commercial claims follow the beneficiaries and conditions in §32-1152. Do not substitute the residential labor-and-material provisions or treat this as a project payment bond.

Must I replace it every license year?

The bond is continuous, with aggregate liability limited to its face amount. Maintain effective security for the license, respond to ROC instructions and arrange any replacement before a cancellation takes effect.

Does RLI automatically file it for me?

Confirm the filing arrangement. ROC describes both associated-surety portal upload and applicant upload; selecting this application does not establish which route will be used or grant the license.
