What this bond does
The State Athletic Commission's model requires payment of obligations arising from events or other matters under its jurisdiction during the effective period. Its examples include gross receipts taxes, fines or civil penalties, amounts owed to officials and contestants, and others contracting with the promoter. It is not limited to fighter purses or event cancellation refunds.
- Who needs it
- Promoters licensed by the Arkansas State Athletic Commission and their authorized sureties. The bond's named principal is the licensed promoter. Confirm the sport, event and jurisdiction with the commission; a contestant application, promoter license and event permit are different parts of preparing a regulated event.
- Who it protects
- Promoter and surety are jointly and severally bound to the commission. On its written demand or claim with an affidavit of obligations, the model calls for payment within 30 calendar days after delivery, without first demanding payment from the principal. Surety payment relieves the principal's commission obligation only to the extent actually paid.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Questions about this bond
Does the bond secure only contestant purses?
No. The model includes gross receipts taxes, fines or civil penalties, payments to officials and contestants, and obligations to others contracting with the promoter, arising from commission-jurisdiction events or matters during the effective period.
Is $20,000 always enough?
It is the minimum stated in the currently linked model. The posted event rule allows an event-specific increase when venue capacity exceeds 1,000 seats. Use the commission's actual security request and do not assume a minimum sum is approval for every venue.
Does bond expiration eliminate earlier event claims?
The model expressly addresses demands made up to one year after the covered occurrence, even after bond expiry, if that occurrence was within the effective period. Separate commission claim-filing requirements still matter. Do not delay reporting or treat expiration as clearing unpaid event obligations.
