Blue Mound, TX — Right Of Way Permit Bond

Blue Mound's right-of-way work rules call for a $2,500 bond for covered contractors, along with city licensing and a permit for the specific work. Its two-year maintenance obligation runs from completion and city acceptance, not simply from the day you buy a bond.

What this bond does

Provides the security required by Blue Mound Code §3.07.001 for covered work in city streets, alleys, public utility areas and other listed public places.

Who needs it
Applicants doing covered street, utility-main or related right-of-way work in Blue Mound who must provide the city with a contractor bond.
Who it protects
The code conditions the bond on protecting the city from negligence-related damage and imperfect or inadequate work, and on maintaining the work for two years after completion and acceptance.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Check the work and the code's exceptions

Section 3.07.001 covers construction, repair, grading, paving and other work in the public places it lists, including utility mains. It requires both the contractor's license/bond and a city engineer's permit for the particular work.

The same section exempts repair or replacement of sidewalks or driveway approaches and preserves work authorized under a plumbing license or bond. Ask the city how those provisions apply to your scope instead of treating every job near a street as identical.

Keep maintenance and registration dates separate

The code's $2,500 bond includes a two-year maintenance responsibility measured from completion and acceptance by the city. Blue Mound's contractor registration form also calls for a two-year maintenance bond for ROW contractors.

Annual registration and the post-acceptance maintenance period are different matters. Confirm the dates and city-approved wording on the issued bond; do not assume a registration expiration releases obligations for completed work.

Prepare the contractor and permit documents

Have the applicant's business name, address, qualifications and city request ready for the existing Propeller option. The registration form asks for bond number/effective date and separate liability insurance; the bond does not replace that insurance.

After issuance, provide the bond through the city's required license/registration process and obtain the specific work permit. The code also requires the licensee to notify the city engineer of the intended start date. An application or bond receipt alone is not permission to begin.

Sources

Have these ready

  2. Prepare the applicant's legal name, business address and qualifications.
  3. Request the city-required $2,500 wording and clarify maintenance dates from city acceptance.
  4. Arrange the separate insurance and obtain the work permit before starting.
