What this bond does

The December 2025 sample secures performance of the erosion/sediment activities required by the approved plan and Code Chapter 8 within their specified time. It is project control security, not general contractor licensing or a guarantee of all construction contracts.

Who needs it
The developer identified in the county's security request. The form also names the landowner, project, engineering firm and plan date, and makes the County of Chesterfield the obligee.
Who it protects
The sample gives the county the choice of specified default remedies and limits rights of action to the obligee and successors/assigns. Do not describe it as general liability protection for everyone on or near the property.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Release follows the county engineer's completion notice

The sample's termination provision runs 60 days from the surety's receipt of the county environmental engineer's written notice of adequate completion. Earlier accrued liability survives. This is not an applicant's 60-day cancellation right, and plan changes or time extensions do not discharge the surety under the sample.

The signature instructions depend on the developer's entity type and authority. A substitute signatory may need authority documentation, and the form includes principal and surety acknowledgments. Arrange the proper signatures after issuance and follow current county filing instructions.

Sources

Have these ready

  1. Confirm the developer/principal and separate owner names.
  2. Collect project, engineering firm, plan date and required completion time.
  3. Obtain the county's accepted form, sum and execution dates.
  4. Identify authorized signatories, acknowledgment and authority-document requirements.

Questions about this bond

Must the developer and property owner be the same?

The reviewed sample provides separate identities. Do not replace one with the other without the county's project request and accepted form.

Can I cancel by sending 60 days' notice?

The sample instead uses the county environmental engineer's adequate-completion notice received by the surety, followed by 60 days, with accrued liability preserved. It is not a general applicant cancellation clause.

Where is the application?

Purchase Now opens Propeller in a new tab. Review the developer, county recipient, project/plan, accepted form, amount and dates before submitting. Issuance, authorized execution, county acceptance and eventual release are different stages.
