Denver, CO — Structural Contractor Bond

Denver's Structural Contractor category is a right-of-way license for structures on public ways or other public property of the City. Its selected bond form is $25,000, payable to the City and County of Denver. Do not confuse that scope with every structural repair on a private lot.

What this bond does

The bond supports the structural right-of-way license. It secures the ordinance and public-works obligations written into the City form, including City indemnification and reimbursement for specified maintenance, repair or replacement defaults.

Who needs it
The legal contractor applying for Denver's Structural Contractor right-of-way license. Identify that category and the contracting entity, rather than substituting an individual structural engineer's professional credential or the broader ROW General category.
Who it protects
The named obligee is the City and County of Denver. The form requires satisfaction of claims and demands incurred in the licensed structural work, City indemnification and reimbursement of City costs arising from the contractor's specified defaults.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Details for structural right-of-way work and execution authority

The current City guide describes bridges, viaducts, public buildings and other public or private structures in the right-of-way or on other City public property. It requires five years of verifiable experience in the trade and lists no test for this category. Those licensing qualifications do not remove the bond, insurance or job-permit requirements.

Use the Structural Contractor form selected by the City. Its condition incorporates the applicable ordinances and public-works rules and addresses claims, City losses and failures to provide maintenance, repairs or replacements during the applicable guarantee period. Do not substitute a different trade's bond or invent a universal guarantee period.

The surety's attorney-in-fact must provide execution authority certified to include the bond date. The form's termination procedure uses written certified-mail notice and 30 days from City receipt, preserving liability for earlier acts or omissions. Separately follow the City's restoration requirements, including pavement repair markers where street or alley patches are restored.

Questions about this bond

Is this for every private structural building project?

The City's listed category concerns structures in the public right-of-way or on other City public property. Confirm the licensing category for the location and work rather than selecting this bond solely because a private project has structural elements.

Can I use the ROW General or another trade's bond?

Denver separately lists ROW General, paving, excavation and other categories with their own forms. Match the Structural Contractor request and City-selected undertaking; a broader-sounding name is not proof that a different filing is interchangeable.

RLI's Denver structural-contractor application opens in a new tab. Match the legal contractor, Structural Contractor ROW category, City and County obligee, $25,000 sum and accepted dates before finalizing. Execute the required form, include authority evidence and file through the City's licensing process; purchase does not issue the license or a work permit.
