What this bond does

Prepare East Point's requested general-contractor code-compliance instrument, not the city's separate Tradesmen form.

Who needs it
Contractors whose East Point instructions call for the General Contractors Code Compliance Bond.
Who it protects
The form addresses building and other city-code compliance and correction of covered violations during construction and for one year after final inspection, with stated exceptions. It is not a general warranty against all building problems.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Resolve work dates before signing

The principal warrants that construction covered by the form has not occurred before the bond's enactment. Have the city address already-started work rather than assuming a new application can simply be backdated.

The one-year code-correction period after final inspection is not a one-year bond term. The form is continuous and excludes routine maintenance, abuse, modification and normal wear and tear from that correction language.

Match the General Contractors instrument

The city's separate Tradesmen form uses $10,000; it is not the $25,000 General Contractors instrument. Match the current city classification, principal, East Point beneficiary wording and start date.

Purchase Now opens RLI in a new tab. After issuance, check the form's agent, surety and contractor/principal execution fields, then follow current city delivery instructions. Its thirty-day cancellation provision concerns subsequent liability and does not promise a release for work already permitted or begun.

Sources

Have these ready

  1. Have the city's General Contractors request and form.
  2. Prepare the principal's exact identity and address.
  3. Resolve the effective date and any already-started work with the city.
  4. Match $25,000 and continuous wording, not the correction-period length.
  5. Check execution and delivery after issuance.

Questions about this bond

Is the one-year correction period the bond term?

No. The posted form says it is continuous. Its code-correction period runs through one year after final inspection, subject to the form's exceptions.

Can the $10,000 Tradesmen form be used for this request?

Not merely because both involve city code compliance. East Point posts a separate $25,000 General Contractors form; use the city's classification and accepted instrument.

What if construction has already started?

Raise that with the city before arranging dates. The posted form contains a principal warranty about work not occurring before enactment; do not assume provider issuance cures that issue.
