Enid, OK — Building Contractor's Bond

Enid's posted building-contractor forms require $10,000 security for registration, with a one-year period from execution. Prepare the signed undertaking and current power of attorney together; an unsigned bond or missing surety authority does not meet the City's approval checklist.

What this bond does

The form addresses permitted construction or repair that fails to comply with Enid's building regulations and indemnifies contracting persons under its conditions. It also protects the City against losses connected with the contractor's work, negligence and use of public property.

Who needs it
The principal or registrant doing the building-contracting work. Use the actual person or business and its authorized signer, keeping the surety's agent and authority documents consistent.
Who it protects
The undertaking is bound to the City and expressly benefits the City and interested persons entitled to seek damages under its conditions. Its protection includes contracting persons damaged by code-noncompliant permitted work; it is not an unrestricted guarantee of every invoice or contract disagreement.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Details for the approval packet and execution date

The checklist calls for the business entity's Secretary of State information, the executed bond and power of attorney, with the principal's name and company position printed. Its homeowner/sole-proprietor exception concerns the entity-registration step; do not assume it excuses every other approval document.

Check that the surety and agent match the power of attorney and that the required seals are present. The form requires a current agent power of attorney with every bond and Oklahoma resident-service-agent proof and contact information for out-of-state companies. It prohibits post-dated bond and supporting documents and provides for City Attorney approval.

The posted forms agree on one year from execution. Termination requires written notice by registered or certified mail at least 30 days before the effective termination date, with liability retained for prior defaults as stated in the undertaking. Keep the accepted execution date and any termination correspondence with the registration; do not substitute a December 31 expiry.

Have these ready

  1. Match the legal principal or registrant and authorized signer.
  2. Use the City-accepted $10,000 form with the actual execution date.
  3. Provide the required signatures, seals and matching current power of attorney.
  4. Prepare entity-registration evidence where applicable and Oklahoma service-agent information for an out-of-state company.
  5. Complete the City's supporting-document checklist and submit for City Attorney approval without post-dating.

Questions about this bond

Does the bond run to December 31?

The posted undertaking says one year from execution. Confirm the accepted execution date and maintain the required security rather than applying another city's calendar-year rule.

Does the sole-proprietor checklist exception remove the whole packet?

The checklist attaches that exception to the Secretary of State entity-registration step. The form still requires the executed undertaking, surety authority and applicable supporting documents; do not infer a blanket exemption.
