What this bond does

Secures compliance with the covered Henrico permit or permits, approved plans and county requirements for the specified public-area work.

Who needs it
Contractors and other permit applicants arranging construction or repair security in Henrico County ROW, easements or other covered public-use areas.
Who it protects
The County of Henrico is the obligee. The form addresses covered noncompliance and public-area losses, with surety liability limited as stated; it is not a general substitute for every development or defect security.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Use the county permit bond, not a different development form

The county form covers construction or repair under the identified permit or permits in streets, highways, public ROW, easements or other public-use areas. It ties the obligation to county-approved plans, specifications and instructions, with the amount determined by the county.

Henrico's forms directory separately lists roadway defect bonds, environmental agreements and ROW maintenance/consent documents. Confirm that this Permit Bond is the requested instrument rather than substituting a similarly named development security.

Plan for the one-year term and any continuation

The published Permit Bond is fixed for one year from issuance and bars early cancellation by the surety. It may be continued by an appropriate surety certificate; ask the county and provider what continued protection the actual permit work requires.

The form allows the county to cancel upon satisfactory completion of permit requirements, while retaining liability accrued before cancellation or expiration. Do not assume expiration alone releases the principal from unfinished work or previously arising liability.

Submit approved security before permit routing

Prepare the legal principal, County of Henrico recipient, required amount and form. Use the existing Propeller Purchase Now option after confirming the instrument, and arrange the form's execution, seals, power-of-attorney signing and resident-agent countersignature as applicable.

Build Henrico's ROW guide says the permit will not be routed for review until the bond has been submitted and approved. Enter the project locations and any applicable continuation-bond association, upload required documents and complete the county review. Issuance by the provider is not an approved work permit.

  3. Prepare county-form execution and required supporting documents.
  4. Submit security for approval, associate any continuation correctly and finish the separate ROW permit review.

Questions about this bond

When does the one-year term begin?

The published Permit Bond states one year from issuance. It is not measured from final work acceptance in that form.

Can the surety cancel it during that year?

The form says the surety cannot cancel before the fixed term expires. It separately allows continuation by certificate and county cancellation upon satisfactory completion.

Will the county review the permit before accepting the bond?

The Build Henrico ROW instructions say the permit is not routed for review until the bond is submitted and approved. Follow the county's current intake process.

Is a roadway defect bond the same instrument?

No. Henrico lists defect securities separately. Match the exact Permit Bond and scope requested for your ROW work.
