What this bond does

IDOT blanket security for access-driveway construction and appurtenances described in the covered permits and sketches.

Who needs it
The principal applying for the covered IDOT highway access permits, with the blanket arrangement confirmed by the issuing District.
Who it protects
The published blanket form benefits the People of Illinois and allows security to meet Department costs of correcting construction to the applicable permits/sketches.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Blanket security still requires each work permission

Administrative Code Part 550 Appendix C incorporates each access permit and sketch and requires another permit before other work at a location. IDOT's current highway page distinguishes non-utility highway work from its utility-permit process. Tell the District about existing blanket security; obtain its accepted form, legal principal, required sum and covered permits rather than assuming statewide location alone establishes coverage.

Track the last permit issued against the blanket bond

IDOT says blanket security must remain active until five years after the last permit was issued against it, regardless of earlier work completion, with a cancellation request sent after that period. The District supplies the required value and calls for three bond copies when required. The option displays no fixed amount or term. Purchase Now opens Propeller; check issuance and accepted District filing, then obtain each actual highway permit before work.

Questions about this bond

Does the blanket bond authorize later work by itself?

No. Appendix C incorporates the individual permits and requires separate permission for other work at the locations.

Does the five-year period start at construction completion?

IDOT's blanket guidance measures it from the last permit issued against the bond, not completion or purchase.

Can I use it automatically for utility or County work?

No. IDOT separates utility permitting, and this State access form does not establish another road authority's acceptance.
