What this bond does

Provide the City of Long Branch with accepted security for the permitted excavation and restoration work. This is City right-of-way security, not a Long Beach Township requirement or general contractor license.

Who needs it
The applicant performing the Long Branch excavation work. The City's ordinance covers disturbance of public improvements and certain material storage or equipment use that can damage the right-of-way.
Who it protects
The performance undertaking concerns faithful performance of the work authorized by the permit. Subsequent maintenance security concerns the restored excavation area and related settlement damage, rather than guaranteeing every part of a private development.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Describe what will happen in the City's right-of-way

The street-excavation article includes pavement, curbs, sidewalks, aprons, drainage and other public improvements. It can also reach work outside the right-of-way when materials or equipment use within it may cause damage.

The application goes to the Director of Public Works and is signed by the applicant performing the work. Identify the location, purpose, opening dimensions, sketch, proposed dates and any improvement details. City jurisdiction over a state or county road depends on the applicable arrangement; do not assume every Long Branch address is solely a City permit.

Single-job and annual guarantees are distinct

Section 297-17B calls for an acceptable performance bond of $5,000 or more before permit issuance and addresses a cash component of at least 10%, administered at the Public Works Director's discretion. Have Public Works state the approved security and cash arrangement for your job.

Under § 297-18B, a BPU-regulated utility or contractor expecting multiple permits may post an annual blanket performance guarantee of at least $5,000. If restoration costs exceed the blanket amount, the City Engineer may require additional security for the particular job.

Do not treat the ordinary offering as automatic blanket coverage or a promise that every job needs only $5,000. The retained provider option publishes neither a fixed sum nor an actual term.

Final restoration does not end every security requirement

Section 297-35B separates approval of final pavement restoration from the following two-year maintenance period. It describes posting maintenance security, the City's written release process and a 50% cash retainage arrangement.

Ask Public Works and the City Clerk which documents and retained security apply before arranging release of the initial guarantee. The City's restoration and maintenance stages should not be compressed into a single assumed one-year purchase term.

Order the City's accepted instrument and finish the application

Purchase Now opens the existing Propeller Long Branch offering. Match the accepted form, applicant, City recipient, required amount and single-job or blanket scope before proceeding. Confirm separately whether later maintenance security is included or must be arranged.

Deliver the issued bond with the required permit documents as the City directs and obtain work authorization before excavating. The code requires work to commence within 30 days of the permit and identifies the proposed completion date as the permit expiration; neither date establishes when the maintenance obligation ends.

Questions about this bond

Does Long Branch have a fixed $5,000 requirement for every job?

The performance provision states $5,000 or more, with a cash component addressed by the Director of Public Works. Larger obligations and job-specific additional security must be confirmed.

May a contractor use an annual blanket guarantee?

Section 297-18B permits that arrangement for contractors expecting multiple permits, as well as BPU-regulated utilities. The City Engineer can require extra security when a job exceeds the blanket amount.

Is maintenance security released when paving is finished?

Not automatically. The code describes final approval followed by a two-year maintenance undertaking and retainage arrangements. Obtain the City's instructions for the actual job.

Does the 30-day work-start rule describe the bond term?

No. It concerns commencing work after the permit. The permit's completion date and post-approval maintenance period are separate.
