What this bond does

Section 26-204 requires the security deposit with the Treasurer and permits the specified government bonds, surety bond or letter of credit. The bond basis is at least $100,000 unless the Commissioner approves a lower amount, never below $15,000. Use the actual determination.

Who needs it
The Maryland motor-club license applicant or renewing company, with its service contract and separate financial evidence. The program's capital/surplus tests do not themselves choose the security sum, and individual representative registration is a separate filing.
Who it protects
The statute requires the bond in favor of the State for Maryland-resident members, conditioned on the club's Title 26 obligations including imposed fines, fees, penalties and ordered restitution. Surety liability is limited to the penal sum; security must be maintained while State liabilities or obligations remain outstanding.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Match the determined security and trust file

Get the Commissioner's required form and actual amount. The minimum capital and surplus evidence is separate from the Treasurer's security deposit. Check the existing accepted government-security, bond or letter-of-credit arrangement before purchasing replacement evidence.

The current renewal program asks for a continuation certificate if a bond is on file. Section 26-204 allows approved substitution and describes release after business has stopped and obligations are satisfied. Its 30-day cancellation notice does not make the security a 30-day product or automatically end all outstanding obligations.

Purchase Now opens Propeller. Match the company principal, State-for-resident-members role, accepted condition, determined sum and dates. Complete the Maryland license process separately; bond issuance does not grant the company license.

Questions about this bond

Do capital and surplus automatically set a $15,000 bond?

No. The program requests financial evidence separately. A lower security amount requires the Commissioner's discretion under 26-204; do not derive it simply by adding the program's capital and surplus figures.

Does closing the business automatically return the security?

The statute requires satisfactory proof that business has stopped and liabilities/obligations are satisfied, with the described approval and Treasurer release. Closing alone is not that proof.

Must every renewal replace an existing bond?

The current program asks for a continuation certificate where a bond is already on file. Match the accepted file instead of assuming each company renewal requires duplicate new security.
