Marysville, KS — Plumbing & Electrical License Bond

Marysville's published plumbing and electrical code provisions require a $10,000 bond filed with the City Clerk before the applicable license is issued. They expressly allow one bond and one proof of liability insurance for a person obtaining both plumbing/gas-fitting and electrical licenses.

What this bond does

Meet the City Clerk's surety requirement for the actual Marysville plumbing/gas-fitting or electrical license request.

Who needs it
Applicants identifying the licensed person and whether the request covers plumbing/gas fitting, electrical service or both.
Who it protects
The plumbing provision addresses excavation-related damage, street/sidewalk restoration, specified losses from inadequate work and ordinance compliance. The electrical provision addresses compliance and indemnifying the City for specified costs, expenses, damage or injuries. Do not assume the two provisions have identical conditions or replace liability insurance.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Confirm both licenses before buying twice

Sections 4-206 and 4-307 say only one bond and proof of liability insurance are required for a person obtaining both the plumbing and/or gas-fitting license and electrical license. This is not a rule that one person's document automatically licenses a different contractor.

Both articles specify a calendar-year bond, and their licenses expire December 31. Confirm the accepted form's covered activities and dates rather than assuming a rolling year from purchase or two separately required bonds.

Check the work and applicant with the Clerk

The code lists exceptions for an individual working on personally owned property and specified work by a firm/corporation or its employees on property it owns or occupies. Do not extend those exceptions automatically to an outside contractor hired by that owner.

Purchase Now opens Propeller in a new tab. Confirm the applicant, actual licensed activities, accepted $10,000 instrument, recipient wording and calendar-year dates with the Clerk and provider before applying. After issuance, check execution and file with the Clerk alongside separate insurance and licensing documents. Issuance is not the license itself or proof that a required work permit has been granted.

Sources

Have these ready

  1. Identify the licensed applicant and plumbing/gas-fitting, electrical or combined request.
  2. Confirm whether the published one-bond provision applies to that same applicant.
  3. Obtain the accepted $10,000 form and calendar-year dates from the Clerk.
  4. Check actual conditions, execution and separate insurance before Clerk filing.

Questions about this bond

Must I buy one bond for plumbing and another for electrical?

The published code expressly requires only one bond and one proof of liability insurance for a person obtaining both licensing groups. Confirm the same applicant and accepted combined coverage with the Clerk.

Do the plumbing and electrical provisions promise identical protection?

No. The plumbing article specifically addresses excavation/restoration and inadequate-work losses, while the electrical article states compliance and City indemnity duties. Match the accepted form to the activities.

Does a customer's property ownership exempt an outside contractor?

Do not assume that. The code's specified owner/internal-employee exceptions are not a blanket exemption for a contractor hired to work on someone else's property.
