What this bond does

Provide an approved surety instrument for the applicable Town of McCandless right-of-way, utility or street-opening security request.

Who needs it
Applicants disturbing a McCandless town right-of-way, including utilities arranging recurring work.
Who it protects
Restoration security concerns repair of the disturbed area. Inspection escrow and the separately listed public-utility bond serve stated town requirements and should not be assumed to be replaced by one bond purchase.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Have the town calculate restoration security

Resolution 2025-32 directs the town to estimate repair and restoration from the excavation’s size and composition. It sets a $3,000 minimum restoration escrow and allows amounts above $5,000 to be secured by a letter of credit or bond, subject to town approval.

Ask the Town Manager, Attorney or Engineer how that provision applies to the amount and portion of security requested from you. A bond is not an automatic substitute for every cash escrow requirement.

Separate recurring utility arrangements

The resolution permits entities routinely working in town rights-of-way to maintain ongoing escrow and an applicable bond. It describes annual utility-bond renewal in an amount and form satisfactory to the town.

It also separately lists a public-utility permit bond minimum of $10,000, with higher amounts determined by the Town Engineer or Manager. Ask which requirement or combination applies; this street-opening option has no stated fixed sum or term.

Use the approved instrument, then obtain the permit

Bring the town’s security breakdown, required condition, principal, recipient and dates to the provider before using the existing purchase link.

After issuance, submit the executed bond through the town’s process and satisfy the remaining escrow and permit requirements. Issuance does not authorize excavation or establish restoration acceptance and release.

Questions about this bond

Can I replace all restoration escrow with a bond?

Not automatically. The resolution makes bond or credit security for amounts above its stated threshold subject to town approval. Obtain the town’s breakdown.

Is $10,000 the standard amount for every opening?

No. The resolution identifies that minimum for the separately listed public-utility permit bond. The town must identify your applicable security.

Does an ongoing utility bond eliminate individual permits?

The recurring-security arrangement does not itself grant permission to open a town road. Complete the applicable permit process for the work.
