What this bond does

City of Merriam, Kansas performance and maintenance security for covered permitted ROW work.

Who needs it
The permit applicant/principal after checking the work-specific, government or residential-owner exemption.
Who it protects
The accepted instrument secures faithful performance of the City's ROW provisions, with separate liability insurance where required. It does not guarantee every private construction contract.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Check the operation before choosing security

The current City webpage describes standard $2,000 Performance and Maintenance security. Its linked §59-73 requires the greater of $2,000 or restoration value and allows annual alternatives: up to ten permits $15,000, eleven to twenty-five $30,000, or unlimited permits $50,000. Ask Public Works which arrangement fits your work.

The posted section waives the bond for driveway placement/replacement, residential street approaches and landscaping such as irrigation or tree planting, and for governmental entities. A residential owner doing adjacent ROW excavation without a contractor has a separate bond and liability-insurance exemption. Those distinctions do not themselves waive work permission.

Use online intake and keep the maintenance coverage

Merriam's current webpage says ROW applications have been online-only since January 2023 and links Citizenserve. Check the applicable Occupational License and separate general/automobile insurance, then supply drawings and a traffic-control plan for a lane closure. Do not rely on the older packet's email or hand-delivery instructions.

Purchase Now opens Propeller; the option displays no fixed amount or term. Match the City-approved form, legal principal and recipient, amount, covered permits and dates with the issuer. File accepted security and insurance with the City Clerk as required and obtain the separate issued permit.

Section 59-73 measures coverage during the permit and two years thereafter. The webpage's two-year shorthand does not establish an offered two-year product or release on the purchase anniversary. Arrange inspections, restoration and accepted continuation or release for the covered work.
