Nederland, TX — Building Contractor Bond

Nederland's selected building-contractor form requires $15,000 security and covers one year from City approval and filing. Match those directions before choosing the effective entries; checkout or a calendar-year renewal date does not establish when the City's coverage period begins.

What this bond does

The form supports compliance with Nederland's building code and ordinances for the listed construction activities, including alterations, leveling, moving and demolition. It addresses City losses and qualifying losses caused by failure to meet those requirements.

Who needs it
The person or contracting business undertaking the work within Nederland. Match the legal principal to the City records and complete the form's owner, signature and notarization entries as directed.
Who it protects
The City is the named obligee. The undertaking also expressly benefits persons suffering loss from the contractor's specified code or ordinance failures and allows those persons to sue the principal and surety on the bond.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Details for approval, filing and restoring the security

Use the Building Contractor's Bond selected on Nederland's current Ordinances & Permits page. Its one-year period begins with approval and filing, and it includes a Building Official approval entry. Keep the accepted dates with the issued document rather than assuming payment, a portal account or an unsigned form establishes City approval.

The form limits total recoveries by all claimants under it to $15,000. It separately requires the principal to maintain that security by providing additional bond principal within 15 days after any recovery. Address that continuing requirement with the City and surety rather than assuming the contractor can continue unchanged after a claim.

Complete the signing and notarization requirements and have the agent attach the power of attorney. The City's page also lists GovWell and other permit materials, but the bond does not replace project permits, plans or inspections. Follow the City's actual delivery and approval directions.

Questions about this bond

Does the bond start automatically when I purchase it?

The City form identifies a one-year period from approval and filing and includes a Building Official approval entry. Confirm the accepted dates and filing rather than using checkout as proof of that approval.

Is the $15,000 available separately to every claimant?

The form caps total recoveries under it by all claimants at $15,000 and separately requires additional bond principal within 15 days after a recovery to maintain the security. Follow both provisions with the City and surety.
