Nevada — Contractor's License Bond

The Nevada State Contractors Board assigns the license-bond amount at approval, within its published $1,000–$500,000 range. Bring that actual notice and the business name on the application or license; the lowest end of the range is not an amount every applicant may choose.

What this bond does

Provide the Board-prescribed Chapter 624 license instrument in favor of the State of Nevada.

Who needs it
Nevada contractor-license applicants or licensees responding to the Board's actual license-bond requirement.
Who it protects
The form benefits valid claimants in specified circumstances: contracting property owners harmed by failure to perform or remove liens, employees, suppliers/material providers and people injured by unlawful acts or omissions. Its aggregate face limit is not a separate full-contract performance/payment guarantee.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Use the Board's assigned amount and execution instructions

The Board says to use its supplied form, with an authorized qualifying surety. The principal name is the business name shown on the license application or license; the form names the State of Nevada as recipient.

The Board's instructions specify principal signatures by entity type, surety attorney-in-fact signature and attached Power of Attorney, plus Nevada-agent countersignature. Confirm the applicable execution rather than assuming an unsigned provider confirmation is ready for filing.

Keep license security separate from other Board requests

The form's aggregate liability does not reset with each year or claim. Its stated surety termination procedure uses at least 60 days' certified written notice to the Board in Reno; that is not an applicant's license-processing period or a deadline for every claim.

The Board separately lists residential-improvement and pool/spa consumer protection, and conditional project performance/payment security. Do not assume this license form satisfies an additional request.

Purchase Now opens RLI in a new tab. Match the Board notice, legal principal, required form, assigned amount and actual dates before applying. Check execution and submit under the Board's current directions; payment alone does not issue or activate the contractor license.

Sources

Have these ready

  1. Bring the Board approval/bond notice and exact application or license business name.
  2. Match the Board-assigned amount rather than selecting the range minimum.
  3. Confirm applicable principal, surety/Power of Attorney and Nevada-agent execution.
  4. Check issuance and submit separately from any additional consumer/project security.

Questions about this bond

May every applicant choose a $1,000 bond?

No. The Board determines the required amount at license approval; use the actual notice.

Does the license bond have no performance-related protection?

The form includes specified valid owner claims for failure to perform or remove liens, but its aggregate face limit is not a separate full-contract project guarantee.

Does purchasing through RLI grant the license?

No. Check the issued Board form and execution, then complete the Board's separate licensing and submission requirements.
