What this bond does

Provide the Town's required bond evidence for its contractor license or renewal.

Who needs it
Contractors and subcontractors working in the Town of Porter, rather than applicants seeking only County registration.
Who it protects
This is security for the Town's accepted licensing obligation. Keep it separate from required insurance, State trade credentials and any job-specific performance/payment request.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Check the Town's accepted route and company information

The Town letter distinguishes County unified recording from a Town-only unrecorded bond. If using the County instrument, provide its filed-stamped recorded copy; do not apply that recording requirement to the Town-only route without a different written request.

Company information must match exactly on the bond and insurance certificate. The letter allows the documents to be faxed or emailed to the Town, with the separate license application and other required support. These acceptance routes do not create two provider options on this page.

Renew the Town license separately from buying the bond

The 2026 letter states January 1–December 31 licenses and says renewals submitted after December 1 are valid through the following year. That is a renewal instruction, not an automatic extension for every new application or a displayed provider term.

The Town requires fresh supporting copies each year and licensing of contractors and subcontractors. A general contractor may not hire unlicensed subcontractors; the packet also requires its subcontractor information before building-permit issuance.

Purchase Now opens Propeller in a new tab. Check the legal applicant, accepted recipient/form, at-least-$5,000 request and actual dates before applying. After issuance, obtain the required recorded copy if using the County route and complete Town licensing. Neither the bond nor the license replaces the proper project permits.

Questions about this bond

Must a bond made out only to Town of Porter be recorded?

The Town's 2026 letter expressly accepts an unrecorded Town bond. Its filed-stamped recording requirement applies to the County Unified route.

Does the County unified bond mean the Town license is already issued?

No. Submit the Town's application and supporting documents and satisfy its licensing process separately.

Does the December renewal rule apply to every new license?

The letter's following-year rule expressly concerns renewals submitted after December 1. Do not extend that statement to all new applications or infer a provider bond term.
