What this bond does

Sedgwick County, Kansas security for covered work and conditions of the actual County ROW agreement.

Who needs it
The agreement's legal Licensee/principal, with the job contractor separately identified and County versus township/city control checked.
Who it protects
Accepted security addresses satisfactory performance of covered agreement work and conditions. Broad Licensee indemnity and separate insurance do not establish unlimited surety liability for every private project.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Identify the agreement and road authority

The County page assigns utilities in unincorporated ROW to a Utility Permit Agreement and uses a Highway Permit Agreement for other uses such as commercial culverts/curb cuts. The current utility form identifies the Board of County Commissioners, Licensee, facilities, location and separate job contractor. Do not automatically name a subcontractor as the Licensee.

Residential/agricultural entrance culverts have a separate process involving Public Works/MABCD, and township-maintained roads require township installation coordination. An address in Sedgwick County does not prove that this County instrument covers an incorporated-city or State-controlled road.

Use the work schedule or accepted standing bond

The linked schedule uses work-specific rates and minimums: utility/excavation categories commonly start at $5,000, while certain highway/flatwork categories start at $2,500. Boring-pit location, length, poles, entrances and other work affect calculation. Mixed work adds the component amounts with the highest applicable minimum.

A $10,000 standing bond can cover multiple open permits/types; check an existing accepted bond before ordering another. The schedule says standing security is not released until all work using it is complete and approved. The instructions allow an emailed surety copy but require the original mailed for the file.

Purchase Now opens Propeller; the option displays no fixed amount or term. Have Public Works and the issuer match the accepted instrument, Licensee/County parties, assigned amount, agreement coverage and dates. Submit required plans/insurance and executed accepted security, then obtain the signed agreement.

Follow the correct completion and maintenance clock

Both linked agreements require 24-hour start notice, notice within five days of completion and a signed approved copy on site. The current Utility Agreement calls for completion/restoration within one year of approval; the Highway Agreement calls for sixty calendar days and separately one-year maintenance after completion with written notice for inspection.

Those periods are not a fixed offered bond term or a universal release date. Keep the Engineer's acceptance and standing-security/insurance continuation directions. Do not apply cash-deposit refund processing time to surety issuance or assume a broad applicant duty is insured by the bond.
