What this bond does

Secures performance of the work and improvements described in the Virginia Beach permit and incorporated plans, with the city's stated protection undertaking.

Who needs it
Permittees arranging Virginia Beach security for construction and improvements on city ROW, easements or other covered public property.
Who it protects
The City of Virginia Beach is the obligee. The form addresses performance of the specified permit and the stated city losses and damage claims; it is not an unrestricted guarantee for every project or contractor license.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

The current Sureties page separately links ROW Permit Corporation, Individual and Partnership forms. Match the actual permittee and execution requirements; if an LLC or another structure does not fit the listed wording, obtain the city's accepted instructions instead of relabeling the entity.

The forms require the city permit number and/or DSC file reference, improvement location and incorporated application/site plans. General corporation or subdivision securities listed on the same page are not automatically interchangeable with these ROW permit instruments.

Tie the undertaking to the approved improvements

The ROW forms promise performance and completion of the work described by the permit, compliance with city requirements and the stated indemnity/damage obligations. They also waive surety notice of city-approved alterations or time extensions.

The reviewed forms do not set a universal annual term, cancellation interval or release deadline. Obtain the city's required amount and coverage instructions for the actual permit rather than importing the separate logging or land-disturbance amounts.

Confirm the instrument and complete city filing

Use the existing Propeller Purchase Now option after the city identifies the form, principal, amount and permit/DSC entries. Arrange the applicable entity signatures and surety attorney-in-fact execution and seal, then submit the instrument through current city directions.

Virginia Beach separately requires a permit for activity in city-owned ROW or easements. Utility work may also need traffic plans, sketches, subcontractor information and specific open-cut/test-hole approval. Bond issuance is not approval of a cut, closure or change to the plan.

Sources

Have these ready

  1. Identify the legal permittee and obtain the matching city ROW form and execution instructions.
  2. Prepare the permit/DSC file reference, approved plans, location and work description.
  3. Confirm the city amount and coverage instructions with the provider.
  4. Complete execution and filing, separate permit/traffic review and any cut or field-change approvals.

Questions about this bond

Does the applicant's entity type matter?

Yes. Virginia Beach publishes separate corporation, individual and partnership ROW forms with different execution blocks. Ask the city for accepted instructions for the actual legal entity.

Can I use a general corporation bond from the same directory?

Do not assume so. The directory separately identifies ROW permit, general, subdivision and stormwater instruments. Match the requested permit undertaking.

Is a fixed annual term established by these forms?

No universal annual term or cancellation interval is stated in the reviewed ROW forms. Confirm the actual coverage and release instructions with the city.

Does the bond authorize a utility street cut?

No. The city's ROW process separately addresses utility plans and open-cut/test-hole requests. Obtain the permit and required approvals before work.
