What this bond does

Provide the license/permit surety bond accepted by West Chester Borough Public Works for street-opening work.

Who needs it
Applicants opening or excavating a street in the Borough of West Chester.
Who it protects
Section 95-3 calls for security for permitted work and maintenance and indemnification of the borough against specified noncompliance-related losses. It does not replace the separately required insurance certificate.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Confirm the sum and two-year protection

The code describes $10,000 security or a greater amount when required. It calls for the bond to secure work and maintenance for two years; the application also commits the applicant to two years of maintenance from completion.

It permits a bond effective for at least one year that is renewable for an additional year. Have Public Works and the provider confirm the actual effective dates and continuation arrangement. This option does not itself state a fixed term.

Prepare the opening application

Give Public Works the applicant name, exact opening location and approximate size and depth, along with required insurance evidence and the accepted bond condition.

Ordinary applications must be submitted at least two workdays before proposed excavation. Road-closure coordination, parking arrangements and any state-road approval are separate from buying security; the borough’s closure policy is not a bond form.

File the issued bond and obtain permission

Compare the requested principal, recipient, amount and dates with the provider application before purchase. Deliver the executed bond through Public Works instructions and obtain the approved permit before ordinary work.

Follow the borough’s restoration requirements and any continuation or renewal required to maintain the accepted security. Neither the first year’s expiration nor visible completion automatically establishes release of the full obligation.

  3. Separate insurance evidence, proposed dates and execution/delivery instructions.

Questions about this bond

Is $10,000 always the maximum required?

No. Section 95-3 allows a greater amount when required. Confirm the amount for the actual opening.

Can a one-year bond satisfy the entire obligation without further action?

Do not assume so. The code permits a minimum one-year instrument renewable for the additional year while requiring the stated work-and-maintenance protection.

Is road-closure approval included when I buy?

No. Public Works permit approval and closure/parking coordination remain separate from security purchase.
