What this bond does

City of Westwood Hills, Kansas performance and maintenance security for covered ROW obligations under its published Chapter 5.

Who needs it
The required ROW-user or person performing work, after checking the specified work, government or self-performing residential-owner provision.
Who it protects
The accepted City form secures faithful performance of the ROW article and restoration. Applicant responsibility and separate insurance do not create an unlimited private-project surety guarantee.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Check restoration value and applicable exceptions

The City's current ordinance index links the May 2014 Chapter 5. Section 5-716 uses the greater of $2,000 or restoration value, with annual alternatives of $15,000 for ten permits or fewer, $30,000 for twenty-five or fewer and $50,000 for unlimited permits. Additional facilities may need larger security under §5-718.

The published section waives the bond for driveway replacement or landscaping such as irrigation/tree planting and for governmental entities. A residential owner doing adjacent ROW excavation without a contractor has a separate bond/insurance exemption. Check the specific operation; these bond exceptions do not establish that no work permit is needed.

File with the right City and document closeout

Section 5-715 directs the ROW-user or performer to Public Works with registration verification, the application, scaled drawings of existing/proposed facilities and a traffic-control plan. Ask for the actual ROW application and accepted instrument instead of assuming a general building application covers excavation.

Purchase Now opens Propeller; the option displays no fixed amount or term. Match the City-Attorney-approved form, Westwood Hills recipient, legal principal, assigned sum, covered permits and dates with the issuer. Arrange execution and accepted City Clerk filing with separate insurance, then obtain issued work permission.

Section 5-716 requires security during the permit plus two years. Section 5-726 calls for inspection at backfill, closeout inspection and completion/inspection of corrective work to Public Works' satisfaction before the two-year maintenance period begins. Obtain the City's dates and continuation/release instructions; a two-year purchase anniversary alone is not acceptance.

Questions about this bond

Is this interchangeable with Westwood security?

Match the City of Westwood Hills and its accepted ROW request. Similar names or shared building-service links do not establish the same recipient.

Is $2,000 sufficient for every job?

The published section uses restoration value if greater, has annual alternatives/exemptions and permits increased security for added facilities. Obtain the City's assignment.

When does the two-year maintenance period begin?

Posted §5-726 ties it to completed corrective work inspected to Public Works' satisfaction. Match that acceptance process with required security coverage and dates.
