What this bond does

The County of York, Virginia, uses its Stormwater Management Development Agreement to secure proper installation of stormwater control measures and compliance with its stormwater ordinance. The agreement identifies the parcel, approved plans and developer responsible for the work.

Who needs it
The developer named in York County's agreement: the property owner or an agent authorized by the owner.
Who it protects
The security is furnished to the County of York for the agreement's stormwater obligations. It does not replace liability insurance or automatically cover every public improvement in a development.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Keep the work deadline distinct from security duration

The published agreement calls for completing the plans within 305 days after the agreement date. It separately requires security subject to expiration to run at least one year after that date. Do not use the work deadline as an assumed bond expiry date. A county-approved extension also requires new or amended security, and the county may require an increased amount.

The agreement permits several security instruments and gives some instructions specifically for letters of credit. Those instructions are not automatically surety-bond provisions. Obtain the county's accepted bond form and required sum for your application. After issuance, complete the bond and development agreement execution requirements and submit them using the county's current instructions.

Questions about this bond

Does this apply to York County, Virginia?

The source agreement is expressly from the County of York, Virginia. Verify that your request is from that county; the short product label is not evidence that it applies in another York jurisdiction.

Can I assume the bond lasts exactly one year?

No. The agreement's one-year provision is a minimum for security that expires, not a promise of automatic release. Match the actual bond form, agreement and any extension to the county's request.

Where can I start?
