GEICO
GEICO’s vehicle insurance business grew out of a direct-to-customer approach.
Our GEICO options focus on vehicles, with personal auto and business auto considered separately.

What we write with GEICO

Vehicles used for work
Business auto addresses vehicles used for work. Tell us who drives them and what they carry.
Company background
Leo and Lillian Goodwin established Government Employees Insurance Company in 1936, initially targeting federal employees and certain military personnel. That original customer group explains the GEICO name, rather than defining today’s eligibility. GEICO became a Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary in 1996. Its current vehicle insurance business includes personal and commercial auto, while its public website also connects customers with other products that may involve separate insurance companies.
