Company background
Mid-Continent’s roots date to General Bonding & Insurance Company, founded in 1947 and merged into Mid-Continent Casualty in 1956. The group later joined Great American and includes both standard and excess-and-surplus insurance companies. Its specialty commercial business focuses on small and midsized operations with unique or difficult-to-place risks. Those different insurance companies and underwriting channels are important context when reviewing the separate homebuilder and excess-and-surplus scopes on this page.
