What this bond does
Provide the $5,000 security at or before license issuance under City Code §10-141(d). The Code describes a bond or recognizance to the people of the State, approved by the Mayor; a local City application does not make the City itself the named obligee automatically.
- Who needs it
- The person/entity applying to establish or conduct pawn brokering at the stated premises within Alamosa. The City’s application provisions ask for the proposed street address, capital to be used in the business and satisfactory evidence of good character. Identify the actual licensee rather than a customer or employee.
- Who it protects
- The condition covers due observance of the City’s current and later pawnbroker ordinances/regulations and safekeeping and return of pawned articles in accordance with applicable State statutes. It is not a promise of automatic payment or a substitute for the separate insurance that protects the goods against fire/property losses.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Questions about this bond
Why is the recipient not automatically the City?
Section 10-141(d) calls for the undertaking to the people of the State, approved by the Mayor. The local application and the instrument’s named recipient are different details. Use the City-accepted wording rather than changing the obligee to fit a mailing destination.
Must I bring two personal sureties?
The Code permits two or more sufficient sureties or a sufficient corporate surety. It does not make two personal sureties the only route. Follow the accepted instrument and actual method; do not invent a cosigner requirement from one alternative.
Does it replace fire/property insurance for pawned goods?
No. Subsection (e) separately calls for protection of the articles held in pawn against the stated fire/property perils. The bond’s compliance/safekeeping-and-return condition does not replace that insurance.
Does December 31 expiration mean this is a calendar-year purchase?
No. The City license expires December 31 and renews annually, but the Propeller choice provides no duration. Check the accepted financial instrument and its actual dates rather than treating the license calendar as an offer.
