Bonney Lake, WA — Street Restoration Bond

Bonney Lake requires street restoration security for work in its public ROW. The code uses a $5,000 minimum for work within that level and allows a city-engineer-determined amount up to 150% of the estimate for larger work; do not assume the checklist's $5,000 figure fits every project.

What this bond does

Provides the city's required street restoration security for the identified Bonney Lake ROW work.

Who needs it
Contractors, utility owners and permit applicants disturbing or affecting Bonney Lake public ROW.
Who it protects
The code requires the bond for the city's protection and separately imposes restoration and maintenance duties on the permittee. The accepted instrument defines the bond's coverage; it is distinct from liability insurance and a city construction-contract bond.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Have the city confirm the amount for your work

The standard conditions list a $5,000 Street Restoration Bond. Chapter 12.08 gives the fuller rule: $5,000 is the minimum for work not exceeding that level; larger work requires an amount up to 150% of the engineer's estimate, with the percentage determined by the city engineer.

Bring the work estimate, drawing and dimensions to the ROW lines so the city can confirm the actual security. The code separately requires liability insurance for contractors or utility owners; a restoration bond does not replace that insurance.

Plan for temporary repair and final restoration

The conditions require city approval before pavement cuts, maintenance of temporary patches and permanent patching by the permittee. The code also retains responsibility for safe trench patches and allows city repair costs to be charged when required repairs are not made.

Prepare applicable traffic control and the required notifications, including the code's 48-hour coordination before construction. The city's conditions say work cannot begin until the permittee has communicated with and received instructions from the city.

Issue the restoration instrument, then obtain work authority

Obtain the accepted form, legal principal, city amount and coverage dates. Use the existing RLI Purchase Now option after confirming it matches the Street Restoration Bond request, then deliver the issued instrument through city instructions.

Complete the ROW permit and cut/traffic approvals separately. Confirm final inspection and the bond's release conditions with the city; no universal one-year warranty, cancellation interval or automatic release is established here from unrelated public-works contract documents.

Sources

Have these ready

  1. Identify the applicant, ROW location, proposed disturbance and restoration work.
  2. Prepare the drawing, ROW dimensions and work estimate for city amount confirmation.
  3. Obtain the accepted restoration form and separate insurance/traffic requirements.
  4. Arrange issuance, filing, city instructions, work approval and documented completion/release.

Questions about this bond

Is every Bonney Lake restoration bond $5,000?

No. The code provides for larger-work security up to 150% of the engineer's estimate, with the city engineer determining the percentage. Confirm the actual amount.

Does the bond replace liability insurance?

No. The code and standard conditions separately address liability insurance. Obtain both requirements for the actual applicant and work.

Can I cut pavement once the bond is issued?

No. The conditions require city approval for pavement cuts and city communication/instructions before work. Follow the separate permit and traffic conditions.

Is a fixed release period verified?

No universal period is established here. Obtain the accepted instrument and city inspection/release instructions rather than using a warranty period from a separate city contract.
