What this bond does

The disciplinary bond supports reinstatement, reissuance or a new license after covered contractor licensing violations. It is an additional licensing condition rather than a replacement for existing required bonds.

Who needs it
California contractors directed by CSLB to file disciplinary security following a licensing violation.
Who it protects
CSLB requires this security in connection with the disciplined contractor's return to licensed operation. The approved form and applicable law define the protected claims and beneficiaries.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Start with the registrar's direction

CSLB says the registrar sets the amount according to the seriousness of the violation. The amount cannot be less than $25,000 or more than ten times the ordinary contractor bond amount.

Use the actual disciplinary notice rather than choosing the ordinary license bond minimum. Include the license number, legal applicant, and case reference when preparing the application.

Maintain separate security for the required period

The board says a disciplinary bond must remain in effect for at least two years, and longer if directed. That period depends on the license remaining active and current; suspension or inactivity can extend it.

The disciplinary bond must be filed in addition to other required bonds and cannot be combined with them. Track each document and its continuation separately.

Purchase and complete CSLB's reinstatement steps

Select Purchase Now to open Propeller's disciplinary bond application in a new tab. Provide the board's assigned amount, required form and disciplinary instructions; the general minimum alone does not identify your amount.

Review the issued document and arrange filing with CSLB. Complete the other conditions in the board's direction; buying the bond alone does not restore an active license.
