Canfield Township, OH — Contractor's License Bond

Before using this generally named option, confirm whether Canfield Township is asking for contractor-license security or its owner-based right-of-way instrument. The posted 2025 ROW policy says the applicant must be the property or utility owner—not a contractor or consultant—and describes a $50,000 minimum for pavement-cut work.

What this bond does

Clarify the actual Township request and applicant rather than substituting the City's process or naming the contractor automatically.

Who needs it
Owners, utilities and contractors checking who must apply and which Township obligation the request actually concerns.
Who it protects
The ROW attachment concerns road/shoulder/bridge/culvert damage, related features, permit conditions and indemnity. It is not proof of this generic option's ongoing contractor-license obligation or accepted match; confirm the actual instrument and required obligee wording before purchase.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Use the owner and scope actually requested

The January 28, 2025 policy and permit instructions expressly distinguish the property/utility owner from the contractor. For pavement, curb, gutter or paved-shoulder cutting, the policy requests security in the applicant's name, with the amount depending on project scope and active projects. Do not extend that minimum to every contractor license or every type of ROW work.

The posted License-Permit Bond has blank obligee and date fields. Obtain the Township's actual required wording. The permit's work/restoration period is not the bond term, and the surety's 30-day written cancellation condition is not an application-processing promise.

Purchase Now opens RLI, not Township review. Obtain the actual obligation, principal, accepted form, recipient, amount and dates before applying. Check issuance and complete any separate plans, permit and pre/post-construction requirements; the generic option's exact accepted match remains unresolved.

Questions about this bond

Does the ROW policy automatically name the contractor as applicant?

No. It expressly requires the property or utility owner rather than a contractor or consultant.

Is $50,000 established for every Township contractor license?

No. The reviewed policy concerns specific ROW/pavement-cut work and a scope-dependent minimum.

Does surety cancellation language promise 30-day processing?

No. Cancellation, permit-work timing and application review are separate matters.
