What this bond does

Match the wholesaler's actual stamp exposure and DOR licensing request. The current guide distinguishes wholesalers from wholesale subcontractors, which do not submit this wholesaler attachment.

Who needs it
Colorado cigarette wholesalers applying for or renewing licensing security, or replacing a bond after anticipated monthly stamp purchases change.
Who it protects
DR 0219 binds the principal and surety jointly and severally to Colorado/DOR for all cigarette-law taxes, penalties and interest due or becoming due. It expressly waives notice to the surety of the principal's default.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Details for Colorado cigarette-license security

The currently linked DR 0219 and DOR's guide set the bond at anticipated total monthly stamp purchases. A wholesaler may file replacement security when that anticipated total changes; do not select a flat amount from an unrelated state or license.

At renewal, the guide allows a reduction of twenty percent of the original anticipated monthly total for each consecutive preceding year without cigarette-tax delinquency, as determined by DOR. Five consecutive qualifying years bring exemption from filing the bond. Obtain the Department's determination and any release directions rather than cancelling existing security on your own calculation.

License renewal also involves current sales-tax licensing, manufacturer/MSA or escrow evidence and required reports. The bond alone does not meet those separate application requirements.

The model is continuing until sixty days' written termination notice to the Executive Director. Its enforcement terms allow action for Colorado's people and waive objections to the Director's capacity and a requirement to serve the principal. Follow the actual notice and accepted release terms.

Corporations execute through the president or vice-president, with secretary-attested corporate seal. The instructions call for partnership names/addresses where applicable, and a power of attorney must accompany the bond.

Purchase Now opens Propeller's Colorado application in a new tab. Match the legal wholesaler, monthly stamp exposure, required sum and effective document, then complete DOR license/security filing. Provider payment does not issue the license or approve a reduction/exemption.

Questions about this bond

Is DR 0219 required from wholesale subcontractors too?

The current DOR guide lists this attachment for wholesalers, not wholesale subcontractors. Match the actual license activity.

Can I assume five calendar years automatically release the bond?

The exemption depends on five consecutive years without cigarette-tax delinquency as determined by DOR. Confirm the qualification and release process; existing security has its own notice terms.

Does the model require default notice to the surety?

It expressly waives the obligee's notice of the principal's default. Read that provision separately from the sixty-day written termination notice.
