Colorado — Supervised Lender Bond

Colorado bases supervised-lender financial responsibility on prior-year supervised-loan volume: $15,000, $20,000 or $25,000 per licensed location, with a $250,000 aggregate cap. A surety bond is one permitted method; match the master license, branches and accepted security before purchase.

What this bond does

Provide accepted proof of financial responsibility for the actual supervised-lender licenses under the Colorado UCCC and Rule 9, without replacing the separate licensing and annual-report process.

Who needs it
Colorado supervised lenders making or collecting their own supervised loans, qualifying assignees collecting or enforcing loans, and covered deferred-deposit businesses identifying the master and branch locations.
Who it protects
The published bond runs to Colorado's Attorney General through the UCCC Administrator for the people of Colorado. It secures UCCC compliance, money due to the Administrator and final judgments or orders lawfully owed to or for people who prevail in UCCC causes of action against the licensee.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Details

The current application sets $15,000 per license for initial applicants or prior-year volume up to $500,000, $20,000 for $500,001–$1 million and $25,000 above $1 million. Evidence must cover every licensed master and branch location, but the total need not exceed $250,000. A permitted cash assignment or qualifying letter of credit is an alternative, not another product included in this purchase. Match the actual volume and locations rather than assuming a flat company minimum.

The full bond condition covers lawful UCCC performance, amounts owed to the Administrator and the specified final judgments or orders. Aggregate surety liability cannot exceed the sum. Its thirty-day notice for termination or reduction preserves prior liability, and the model addresses two years after license surrender, revocation or expiration unless previously terminated under its terms. That continuation is distinct from the July license renewal and separate annual report with financial-responsibility evidence.

Questions about this bond

Does every supervised lender need $25,000 for each location?

The application provides three volume bands, starting at $15,000 for an initial application. Evidence covers every location, subject to the stated $250,000 aggregate cap.

Must the bond be my only financial-responsibility method?

No. The application permits specified cash assignments and letters of credit as alternatives. Confirm the method accepted for the actual licenses.

Does electronic delivery mean no signatures or seal?

No. The Unit's guidance allows qualifying electronic signatures and seals, prefers security procedures and encrypted delivery, and does not waive execution requirements.

Does a bond replace the annual report?

No. The license renewal, annual report and financial-responsibility evidence are separate obligations. Follow the Unit's current filing calendar.
