What this bond does

Arrange the Town of Coventry’s accepted security for the applicable street or sidewalk excavation permit.

Who needs it
Road-opening applicants and regulated utilities with a Coventry permit-security request.
Who it protects
Section 209-9 describes a bond to the town conditioned on faithful performance of the permit agreement, including maintenance and protection against opening-related losses. A separate residential curb/sidewalk cash requirement should not be assumed interchangeable.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Identify the road-opening activity

The published excavation provision covers trenches, holes and devices in town-road rights-of-way. It calls for Public Works applications identifying the location and nature of work and for the council to set amounts by activity annually, with a stated $5,000 minimum.

Get the current activity-specific sum and condition from Public Works. This purchase option supplies no fixed amount or term; an amount quoted for another excavation category may not apply.

Separate annual repairs from capital work

The code permits a State Public Utilities Commission-regulated business or utility to file $25,000 security for annual repair and service work. It expressly requires separate security for capital projects.

Section 209-10 separately describes residential curb-and-sidewalk openings and cash security. Have the town confirm the instrument it accepts for your request instead of treating every sidewalk obligation as this surety offering.

Confirm filing and the current accepted form

The excavation code describes filing the bond with the Town Treasurer before Public Works issues the permit. Compare the actual request with the provider’s condition before purchase and submit properly executed security.

It also describes completion certification and a year of inspection before satisfactory-release action, with a different rule for regulated-utility bonds. Confirm current form, maintenance and discharge instructions; purchase and the end of a year do not independently establish release.
