What this bond does

The reviewed agreement secures construction and completion of the specified sediment and erosion-control and/or non-dedicated stormwater improvements on the identified plans. The applicable improvements must come from that project; the title does not make every activity part of every bond.

Who needs it
The property owner or authorized owner agent entering the county agreement. The agreement identifies the property, section/lots, address, tax ID, plans and engineer, rather than a general contractor's ongoing trade license.
Who it protects
Frederick County receives completion security. Its published December 2014 agreement expressly allows the county to refuse surety bonds at the project's beginning. Confirm acceptance and the current document set before relying on the bond option.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Do not put the entire estimate into the bond

The reviewed agreement puts the 15% contingency and full permanent-seeding amount in cash/check or a letter of credit, with the remaining balance in the surety bond. Use the county's approved estimate and current allocation, not an assumed single bond for the entire total.

The completion period is a project-specific blank. The agreement requires as-built stormwater drawings and county inspection before release of security and makes reductions discretionary by separate agreement. Its opening date is left for the county to enter on final approval. These agreement requirements are not a provider issuance timetable.

Questions about this bond

Can one bond replace the other security?

The reviewed agreement divides the security and reserves separate instruments for contingency and permanent seeding. Follow the county's current approved allocation.

Does the agreement provide a standard annual term?

No. Its completion period is filled for the project. Reductions and release have their own county conditions; do not choose an assumed annual expiry.

How do I start?
