Georgia — Immigration Assistance Provider Bond

Georgia’s immigration-assistance-provider licensing process calls for a $5,000 performance bond. Use The Southern Agency’s entry for the provider’s State licensing file, with the correct individual or entity as applicant. The bond does not grant a client immigration status or authorize the provider to give legal advice.

What this bond does

The prescribed security supports faithful, honest immigration-assistance work and compliance with Georgia’s Registration of Immigration Assistance Act. The current State form names the Secretary of State of the State of Georgia, for the State’s use and for people with covered causes of action against the provider.

Who needs it
Nonexempt applicants providing compensated, nonlegal immigration assistance in Georgia. The Secretary publishes separate individual and entity application guides. Match the actual State applicant and permitted services rather than assuming a trade name or an employee’s name identifies the license holder.
Who it protects
The January 2026 State form addresses malfeasance or misfeasance in the provider’s immigration-assistance work and requires faithful, honest conduct under the Act. Its $5,000 sum is an aggregate limit. More than one recovery may be made until that amount is exhausted; it is not an unlimited balance for every customer or a promise that a complaint will be paid.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Describe the work without treating it as legal representation

The Act permits services such as transcribing client responses, translating forms and answers, and securing existing supporting documents. It excludes legal advice, recommending a course of legal action, and work requiring legal analysis or judgment. Transcribing an answer does not permit advising the client what the answer should be.

A service contract must clearly state the provider’s and client’s obligations. Have the actual services and responsibilities available when matching the State file; this licensing bond is not evidence of legal-representation authority.

Use the current State form and actual period

Rule 546-1-.01 identifies a $5,000 Performance Bond, Form IP200. The State’s current forms list links an Immigration Assistance Provider Bond marked January 2026. It has principal and surety signature blocks, each with an official-witness/notary line, plus blank beginning and expiration dates.

The Secretary’s guides describe annual license renewal by August 31. That licensing cycle does not verify a twelve-month purchase term or make the posted bond continuous. Follow the State’s current form, execution, and date instructions.

Keep the licensing application separate from the purchase

The Department now directs license applications through GOALS and says paper applications will be returned. Follow its current instructions for supplying the bond rather than treating a mailing address on a form as permission to mail a paper license application.

Purchase Now opens Propeller in a new tab. Compare the intended instrument with your State applicant, the $5,000 requirement, prescribed wording, and actual dates before completing it. This option supplies no amount or term label. Retain the executed document for the State file as directed; purchase alone does not create an active provider license.

Questions about this bond

Should the bond name me or the business?

Use the applicant for the actual State licensing file. The Secretary has distinct individual and entity guides, and the entity checklist includes corporate registration. The bond’s principal-name and signer/title fields should match that role; a manager’s signature is not a reason to replace the entity’s legal identity.

Does this permit me to advise clients how to answer immigration questions?

No. The Act distinguishes transcription and translation from legal advice or judgment. Its permitted transcription service expressly excludes advising clients about their answers. The bond does not expand those permitted activities.

Does annual renewal mean the purchase option always lasts one year?

No. The guides state an August 31 annual license renewal, while the current bond form has beginning and expiration blanks. The public option has no duration label. Match the actual State-required period and intended instrument rather than inferring a one-year or continuous term.

Can services begin once I have purchased the bond?

The Secretary’s guides say services cannot legally be performed until an active license is held. The bond is one licensing item. Neither its purchase nor its $5,000 face amount determines the outcome of a client’s immigration matter.
