What this bond does

Match this offering to the actual Hammond public-street, sidewalk or alley opening security request.

Who needs it
The responsible opening/occupation applicant, with the owner and contractor roles and actual City-required principal confirmed.
Who it protects
The accepted City instrument defines secured opening/restoration duties and surety liability. General permit safety or owner liability does not establish a universal bond sum or guarantee every private contract.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Describe the opening and obtain the special permit

Published Section 101.080 requires a special permit for excavation in public streets, sidewalks or alleys. It identifies the Street Commissioner and written City blanks showing the exact excavation or materials-occupation location. Describe the complete operation and confirm the actual current office/process.

Sections 101.081–101.083 address protection of openings, restoration, completion notice and inspection. Notify the Street Commissioner when the work is complete and obtain the actual acceptance/release; do not assume an uninspected filled opening is accepted. Associated commercial curb openings have a distinct Board/Engineer process in Sections 101.096–101.097.

Match the requested bond rather than a neighboring license

The Chapter's $5,000 bond in Section 101.123 belongs to sidewalk-builder licensing under a different subchapter. Its five-year defective-sidewalk duty is not automatically the Street Opening bond term. Have the City supply the actual security form, legal recipient/principal, amount, dates and work scope.

Purchase Now opens Propeller's Street Opening offering; the option displays no fixed amount or term. Have the issuer confirm the requested instrument and arrange its required execution and actual City delivery/acceptance.

Obtain the separately approved work/occupation permission and follow the applicable protection, restoration and inspection instructions. The permit's completion release and any bond cancellation or continuing liability must be checked under the actual accepted documents.

Sources

Have these ready

  1. Exact Hammond public opening/materials-occupation location, operation and any associated curb access.
  2. Actual current City permit/inspection office and complete written security request.
  3. Required principal/recipient, accepted Street Opening form, sum/dates and issuer match—not an assumed sidewalk-license bond.
  4. Separate permit approval, document delivery/acceptance, protected access, restoration/inspection and actual release conditions.

Questions about this bond

Is the $5,000 sidewalk-builder bond automatically the Street Opening minimum?

No such equivalence is established. Section 101.123 is a separate sidewalk-builder licensing provision; obtain the actual opening security request.

Is bond payment the special excavation permit?

No. Published Section 101.080 requires its own written special permit. Complete actual City approval separately from issuance and accepted filing.

Can I skip City inspection after filling the opening?

The published rules call for completion notice and inspection. Obtain actual acceptance and separately check the issued bond's release/continuation conditions.
