Hawaii — Guard/Agency Bond
Hawaii’s posted Guard/Agency form is a $5,000 undertaking to the State. Before applying through The Southern Agency, match it to the Board’s request for a licensed guard or guard agency—not an employee-registration card.

What this bond does
The Board’s March 2026 agency instructions place an at-least-$5,000 bond after application approval and before license issuance. The instrument backs faithful compliance with Chapter 463 and the Board’s rules, and the instructions call for coverage to remain in force.
- Who needs it
- A guard-agency entity or licensed guard whose Board request matches the Guard/Agency selection. An agency’s designated licensed principal and its business entity have distinct licensing roles; employee registration is another process.
- Who it protects
- The State of Hawaii is the named recipient. The form also permits a person injured by the principal’s willful, malicious or wrongful act to sue the surety for damages, with total surety liability capped at the bond’s face amount. It is not automatic incident insurance.
Your bond option

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Questions about this bond
Is this the same as guard employee registration?
No. DCCA lists employee registration, individual guard licensing and agency licensing separately. Use the Board’s request to identify which licensed applicant the surety instrument names.
Does the agency’s named principal replace the entity license?
No. The agency instructions require a separate entity application and a licensed principal in its employ. Keep the person’s licensing role distinct from the business applicant and from the bond’s use of the word principal.
Does renewal mean this instrument automatically expires?
The posted form runs concurrently with the license and renewals unless cancelled under its notice clause. Maintain the accepted coverage and follow the Board’s renewal instructions; the purchase option does not supply a separate fixed term.
