What this bond does

Support the individual registrant's applicable City of Lancaster contractor registration and any assignment to the exact named business.

Who needs it
Applicants preparing Lancaster registration with the individual name, business assignment if any, and actual trade classifications.
Who it protects
The instrument addresses holding the City harmless from the specified loss or damage associated with accident or lack of care or skill in the registered work. It is not the contractor's liability policy or an unrestricted guarantee of every contract payment.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Give the City's instructions to the bond company

For application, have the individual registrant's full name and all registered trades ready. If registration is assigned to a business, the exact full business name must appear. The instructions say to leave the company field blank when the person is doing business only as herself or himself.

The City specifies one year from the bond date for new registrants and gives a separate current/new-bond date instruction for renewals. This is not a December 31 rule. After issuance, check original registrant and bonding-company signatures; rubber stamps are not accepted. The City says a missing imprinted or gold seal makes the bond invalid.

Purchase Now opens RLI in a new tab. Match the Lancaster form, registrant/business, trades, $15,000 and dates. The City's instruction tells the bond company to return the completed form to the applicant, who completes the additional registration paperwork. Starting the provider application or receiving the bond is not the City's registration approval.

Questions about this bond

Can one bond include more than one trade?

Lancaster's instructions allow all registered trades to be covered under one bond when each trade is listed. The bond does not itself grant those registrations.

Should I use December 31 as the end date?

The instructions instead describe a one-year period tied to the bond date for new registrants, with a separate date instruction for renewals. Confirm your actual registration dates.

Should the bond company send the form straight to City Hall?

The City's bond instructions tell the company to return the completed form to the applicant so the applicant can complete the remaining registration submission.
