What this bond does

Support the individual holder's City of Lorain registration for the named trade and commercial, residential or combined work.

Who needs it
New or renewing City applicants matching the individual registration holder to the company doing business under that registration.
Who it protects
The bond runs to the City or its officers for the use of the specified parties contracting with the principal. Its condition concerns performance of the things required by Lorain's Building Code, with total surety liability limited to the bond amount. It is not unlimited project completion or payment coverage.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Match the City registration, not the county name

Have the individual's first and last name, company name, specific trade and commercial/residential selection ready when applying. The current-linked packet requires an original notarized $25,000 bond; its renewal form also specifies the seal. Dates follow the registration anniversary, not a borrowed January–December schedule.

Registration expired for more than twelve months is treated as a new application with additional documents. The packet distinguishes new and renewal/State-licensed sections and offers specified experience or training evidence and other-city registrations/reference alternatives for new applicants. Use the section that fits your status.

Purchase Now opens RLI in a new tab. Check the City form, individual/company, trade, $25,000 and registration dates. After issuance, check original execution, notarization/seal and the complete City submission. Liability evidence is separate: the City's checklist says no additional insured on that certificate and names City of Lorain–Building Division as certificate holder. Provider issuance does not finish City registration or the separate tax process.

Sources

Have these ready

  4. After issuance: check the original bond, notarization and seal before City submission.

Questions about this bond

Does the City use a December 31 bond end date?

The linked instructions require the bond expiration to match registration and describe a year from registration, including a January-to-next-January example.

Must the City be an additional insured on the liability certificate?

The reviewed City checklists expressly say no additional insured on the certificate and identify City of Lorain–Building Division as certificate holder. Do not copy a neighboring city's different insurance instruction.

Can I renew after more than twelve months expired?

The packet says an expiration of more than twelve months requires application as a new registrant and additional documents. Follow the City's applicable section rather than assuming the renewal-only form is sufficient.
