What this bond does

Guarantee payment to the City for repairing public streets and facilities in them and removing deposited earth materials or debris caused by the permitted hauling operations.

Who needs it
Permittees and property owners coordinating Los Angeles grading and earth-hauling clearance. Keep the actual permittee, property owner, applicant and hauling contractor distinct on the project documents.
Who it protects
Section 62.202 protects the City against the specified repair and debris-removal costs from permitted operations. It is not a general cargo, customs or private-contractor payment undertaking. Match the City Attorney-approved form and project-specific required amount.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Details for grading hauls and City costs

The bond and hearing thresholds are different. Section 62.202 permits Public Works to require a bond as a grading-permit condition for more than 100 cubic yards of earth materials within a hillside area. The June 2026 haul-route bulletin describes a Board hearing for more than 1,000 cubic yards of soil in the designated hillside or Special Grading Area. Use the City's actual project determination rather than treating 1,000 cubic yards as the bond threshold.

The permittee executes the bond with a corporate surety authorized in California, using a form approved by the City Attorney. Public Works sets sufficient security for reasonably expected street and public-facility repair and earth or debris removal. The clearance instructions call for the property owner's bond posting and direct the applicant to the haul-route staff report for the amount. Do not assume a figure from another project's report applies.

The code permits a cash bond on the same terms in lieu of surety security. This listing opens the surety application; arrange any alternative directly under the City's instructions. Keep proof of posting with the grading and haul-route clearance documents, distinct from the application, route approval and other permit requirements.

Under section 62.202, the bond term begins when filed and remains in effect until hauling operations are completed and Public Works subsequently inspects the affected streets. The last truck leaving the site does not by itself establish that both conditions have been met. Coordinate the City's inspection and completion record before assuming the security can end.

Questions about this bond

Is this for customs import or export cargo?

The City's requirement concerns earth materials moved in grading and hauling operations. Match the actual Los Angeles grading-project request. Customs and cargo import arrangements are separate.

Is 1,000 cubic yards the bond threshold?

No. Section 62.202 allows a bond condition for more than 100 cubic yards in a hillside grading project. The posted June 2026 bulletin's more-than-1,000-cubic-yard hearing rule addresses a different approval step. Obtain the City's project determination.

Does coverage end when hauling stops?

The code keeps the bond in effect until hauling is completed and Public Works has subsequently inspected the affected public streets. Confirm both parts through the City's process rather than treating the last hauling day as automatic release.

What follows Purchase Now?

Propeller's Los Angeles Import/Export Haul application opens in a new tab. Match the City-approved condition, permittee and project, required sum, dates and signatures. File the issued undertaking and provide proof of posting as the City directs; provider payment does not approve the route, issue the grading permit or complete the final inspection.
