What this bond does

Prepare the bond component of the applicant's Maple Heights contractor or subcontractor registration for the actual covered work.

Who needs it
Contractors, subcontractors and specialty contractors completing the City's application, including the individuals authorized to obtain permits for the company.
Who it protects
The registration packet specifies the amount, classifications and dates but does not reproduce the insurer's bond conditions. The accepted instrument defines the secured obligation; the bond does not replace the separately required insurance, tax or trade-credential materials.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

List the classifications and check the year

The published packet sets the bond from January 1 or a later date in the year through December 31 of that same year. It gives a specific exception for companies registering in December: the bond may run from a date in that month through December 31 of the following year. Confirm the applicable dates before issuance; do not use another city's November or anniversary rule.

For application, have the company, applicant/title and every covered classification ready. The City package separately includes income-tax registration, workers' compensation, liability evidence and applicable State credentials. It also calls for identification for the applicant and other employees authorized to pull permits. The posted PDF has a January 10, 2023 footer, so confirm the current submission instructions.

Purchase Now opens Propeller in a new tab. Match the Maple Heights recipient, principal, classifications, $25,000 request and dates. After issuance, check the accepted insurer form's execution and provide it with the complete City registration package. A property owner cannot obtain a permit for the contractor under the packet's guidelines; provider checkout does not issue a City permit.

Questions about this bond

Must I use a City-specific bond blank?

The published packet says the City accepts the bond forms used by the insurance company. The bond must still meet the City's amount, classifications and date instructions.

Can December registration extend into the following year?

The packet allows a company registering in December to date its bond during that month through December 31 of the following year. Confirm that exception for your actual registration.

Can a customer obtain my permit for me?

The guidelines say property owners shall not obtain permits for a contractor or subcontractor. The application separately allows named employees with the required identification to obtain permits for the company.
