Mentor, OH — Right Of Way Permit Bond

Mentor publishes a project-specific Performance & Maintenance Surety for ROW construction and a separate utility-provider registration bond. Match the requested obligation before choosing either purchase option; the registration bond's $50,000 amount is not the construction form's stated sum.

What this bond does

This page offers Mentor right-of-way security. The city's construction instrument covers approved work and restoration, including sewer work, while utility-provider registration has a different purpose and duration.

Who needs it
The principal applying for a Mentor ROW construction permit, or an applicant checking whether its request instead concerns utility-provider registration.
Who it protects
The construction form benefits the City of Mentor and secures work performed under the permit according to Engineering requirements. It applies to the approved items of work and retains a two-year condition tied to final construction/restoration approval.

Choose from 2 options

Each option is a separate record. Where a term, bond amount, premium, or E&O limit is known, it is listed; match it to what your requirement asks for.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Identify the construction and restoration request

Mentor's Performance & Maintenance Surety names the construction-permit location and leaves the bond sum blank. Its work description includes pavement, curbs, sidewalks, water, storm and sanitary sewer mains or laterals, utilities, drainage and driveway aprons.

The form says it remains effective for two years from final approval of construction and restoration and provides for release on City Engineer approval. Ask Engineering for the project sum, dates and release process; do not treat the planned construction finish as the release date.

Do not import utility-registration terms

The separate ROW Utility Provider Registration Bond secures the provider's registration obligations in the amount of $50,000. It is maintained while facilities are in service and for 120 days after their removal.

Those registration terms do not establish the amount or duration of the blank-sum construction bond. Confirm whether the applicant is the permit principal, utility provider or both, and obtain each required instrument instead of merging the two duties.

Compare the issued condition behind each option

Option 1 opens Propeller's Right of Way (including sewers) Bond application. Option 2 opens RLI's Right of Way Permit Bond application. Neither catalog option supplies an independently verified sum or period, and no preferred-equivalent relationship is recorded.

Give the provider Engineering's exact request and confirm which condition it will issue. Review the document, parties, work location, sum, dates and required execution attachments before filing with the city. Provider issuance does not register a utility or grant the ROW construction permit.

Have these ready

  1. Obtain the city request and distinguish construction security from utility-provider registration.
  2. Identify the principal, project location and permitted items, including any sewer work.
  3. Confirm the required sum, two-year construction condition where applicable and release instructions.
  4. Match one provider's instrument, review its execution and file it with the city.

Questions about this bond

Is the construction bond always $50,000?

No. The reviewed construction form leaves the sum blank. The separate utility-provider registration bond states $50,000.

Does the construction form include sewers?

Its description expressly includes storm and sanitary sewer mains or laterals, subject to the items approved with the permit.

When does the construction form's two-year period begin?

It says two years from final approval of construction and restoration. Obtain the Engineer's dates and release direction for your work.

Are the two purchase options confirmed equivalents?

No equivalence is recorded. Have the provider match the city's required condition, not just its broad ROW title.
