- Who needs it
- Applicants and licensees using Michigan's second-mortgage company license route, including servicing activity.
- Who it protects
- The bond is payable to the commissioner and supports qualifying borrower, applicant and servicing-customer claims. It also secures specified sums owed to the commissioner.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Questions about this bond
Can I mail the original bond to DIFS?
DIFS instructs licensees to use the NMLS electronic bond function and not send original bonds, riders or continuation certificates directly to the department.
Does the company license authorize my loan officers?
DIFS says individual originators need separate MLO licensing unless statutorily exempt. The company bond purchase does not grant that authority.
What does a bond claim cover?
The Act identifies qualifying claimants and specific losses, including application fees, principal or interest overcharges and excess escrow collections. It is not protection against every loan loss.
Who uploads the bond?
The surety prepares the electronic bond. Your company completes the required signature and Mark Ready steps in NMLS; simply uploading a scan is not the ESB workflow.
