Mishawaka, IN — Street Opening Permit (Engineering Department) Bond

Identify Engineering's actual opening/ROW occupancy request before selecting this Mishawaka offering. Current City rules distinguish the contractor's calendar-year Excavation Bond from site-specific security; the Engineering Department label alone does not identify which instrument this purchase supplies.

What this bond does

Security matching the actual Mishawaka Engineering opening/occupancy permit and any separately required instrument.

Who needs it
The bonded contractor/principal for the actual City ROW activity, with the location, operation and required covered work confirmed.
Who it protects
The accepted instrument defines the secured City work and liability. A permit-office label is not the obligee, unlimited private-project security or proof that all additional instruments are included.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Describe occupancy, traffic and the actual street classification

The City's 2026 Excavation/ROW Occupancy definition includes above/below-grade utility repairs and work disrupting normal traffic or lanes, not only digging a hole. Supply the location, purpose, work area, dimensions/depth, duration and traffic plan for the actual Engineering permit.

Current calendar-year Excavation Bond status is required. High Volume Streets or Engineer designation also require a site-specific bond of at least $25,000 with detailed drawings and attention to traffic. Let Engineering classify the road; the offering's Street Opening name does not establish site-specific eligibility or replace the general bond.

Allow for City review and separate accepted security

The standards specify three business days for site-specific processing and a Street Closure Request at least five calendar days before a proposed closure/restriction, with its traffic plan. These are City work-process conditions, not a promise that the provider purchase completes permitting. State ROW work may also need INDOT permission.

Purchase Now opens Propeller's Engineering Department offering; the option displays no fixed amount or term. Compare the actual request with the separate Street Excavation offering through the issuer/City; do not assume equivalence, an additional-site instrument or a need to buy both from their names.

Arrange the required principal/City recipient, accepted form, sum/dates, execution and actual Engineering acceptance. The posted general form separately continues duties after each completed/accepted piece; the 2026 standards also call for three-year maintenance security for City-accepted improvements at 10% of value or $25,000, whichever is greater. Obtain the actual required package, permit approval and completion/release conditions.

Questions about this bond

Does Street Opening apply only to digging?

The City's Excavation/ROW Occupancy definition is broader, including above-grade utility work and traffic/lane disruption. Match the actual Engineering request.

Does the Engineering label prove this is the $25,000 site-specific instrument?

No. The City has a distinct site-specific requirement, but the offering displays no fixed amount or qualifying scope. Obtain issuer/City confirmation.

Can a provider receipt replace the closure review?

No. The standards have separate site-specific processing and closure-request conditions. Obtain actual accepted security and City work authorization.
