Monroe County, MI — Highway Permit Bond

Monroe County Road Commission publishes a permit performance bond with an assigned sum and a separate commercial maintenance bond. Use the form requested for your actual county-road work; the maintenance form's $5,000 and two-year language are not universal highway-permit terms.

What this bond does

Board of County Road Commissioners of Monroe County, Michigan security for the work and highway-damage obligations identified in the attached permit application.

Who needs it
The principal named in the Road Commission's actual permit request, with the working contractor and permit category identified.
Who it protects
The permit bond concerns the authorized undertaking, time and highway surface/structure obligations stated in its conditions. It is not automatically the separate post-acceptance maintenance instrument.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Identify which Commission instrument is required

The Commission separates residential, commercial, utility, transportation, miscellaneous and site-plan work. Give it the actual road, township, activity and permit category. A county location alone does not establish the road's authority or make every project a commercial development.

Its selected Performance Bond names the Board, refers to the attached permit application and leaves the penal sum blank. The separately selected Commercial Maintenance Bond states $5,000 and a two-year period after final acceptance of the improvements, subject to its conditions. Do not copy those maintenance attributes into every Highway Permit request.

Keep the issued security and the Board's notices separate

Purchase Now opens Propeller. The option displays no fixed amount or term. Match the Commission's selected form, principal/Board recipient, assigned sum, permit scope and dates with the issuer, arrange execution and the accepted filing, and obtain the actual permit through the category's prescribed process.

The performance form reserves its permit-issuance and termination-of-liability notices for the permit office. Do not complete those office-only fields yourself or infer termination from the end of a calendar year. Obtain the Board's actual notice and any required inspection/acceptance records.

If the Commission also requires commercial maintenance security, track that instrument separately and confirm the final-acceptance date and end conditions. Construction permission, acceptance and maintenance closeout are different steps; a provider purchase does not complete them.

Questions about this bond

Is every Monroe County highway bond $5,000 for two years?

No. Those figures appear on the separate Commercial Maintenance Bond. The selected permit Performance Bond leaves its sum blank and refers to the actual permit application.

Can I fill in the termination notice after finishing?

No. The performance form reserves that notice for the permit office. Obtain the Board's required completion/inspection decision and actual termination notice.

Does finishing construction start every maintenance period?

The commercial maintenance form uses final acceptance, not merely the contractor's finish date. Confirm which instrument applies and retain the actual Board acceptance record.
