What this bond does

Match the nonresident wholesale license, exact legal applicant and actual business place. Complete the separate CD-5 appointment of New Jersey's Secretary of State for service of process.

Who needs it
Nonresident wholesalers selling cigarettes to licensed retail dealers or their own outlets. Distributor stamp authority and a wholesaler's handling of already-stamped cigarettes are not interchangeable activities.
Who it protects
CD-3 binds the principal and authorized surety to New Jersey. Its condition requires proper performance of all licensee duties, discharge of liabilities, and compliance with the Cigarette Tax Act and Taxation Director's rules.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Details for a nonresident cigarette wholesaler

The forms directory still links the 2011 CWD-P application packet, including CD-3 and CD-5. The separate wholesaler instruction and CD-3 note specify $2,000 for nonresident wholesalers, not the $6,000 distributor requirement. Match the actual licensed role and location.

CD-3 states a term ending March 31. The packet permits a continuation certificate for renewing licensees required to post security and asks for renewal by March 1. Use current Taxation renewal instructions and the actual license year rather than reusing the packet's preprinted 2012 application year.

Execute CD-3 in the exact applicant name. Its principal signs through the owner/partner/corporate president or vice-president, with corporate secretary or other applicable witness and corporate seal. Use the surety's authorized signature. CD-5's Secretary-of-State service appointment is a separate nonresident instrument, not the bond signer's power of attorney.

The current CNR-1 is revised August 2025. Its headline twentieth-day deadline is for distributors; the instructions give wholesalers the tenth of the following month. A negative report is required with no transactions. Follow the actual applicable schedules, not another role's stamp account.

Purchase Now opens Propeller's New Jersey nonresident-wholesaler application in a new tab. Match the legal wholesaler, $2,000 performance undertaking, place and license year, then submit the bond and nonresident registration papers as instructed. Provider payment does not grant the license or new stamp-credit terms.
