New Mexico — Promoters Of Professional Athletic Events Bond

New Mexico's 2026 promoter application requires a $10,000 surety bond on the Athletic Commission's form. The Commission separately regulates combative events such as boxing, kickboxing, wrestling and MMA. Obtain its accepted undertaking and identify the licensed promoter before starting this professional-event application.

What this bond does

The prescribed bond names the State of New Mexico Athletic Commission as obligee. It addresses regulatory violations connected to an approved athletic event that cause monetary loss, including losses involving participants, officials, renters, advertisers, employees and directly related promotional debts or State taxes.

Who needs it
Promoters of professional athletic events within the New Mexico Athletic Commission's remit. The catalog wording does not mean this is a bond for every kind of sporting event or that the bond alone supplies an event permit.
Who it protects
The form sets out a Commission determination and indemnity condition; it is not an unconditional promise to pay every disputed event bill immediately. Event insurance, licensing and financial reporting remain separate from the surety application.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Details of the New Mexico Commission form

The July 2026 promoter application and the earlier promoter packet both request $10,000 security on the Commission's bond form. The actual instrument leaves its sum to be completed. Match the current request and the full State of New Mexico Athletic Commission name rather than treating a blank field as a different amount or substituting another recipient.

The bond condition concerns a violation determined in a proceeding before the Commission that causes the described monetary loss. It requires the principal to indemnify the State against that loss within thirty days after the determination becomes final. That is different from a guarantee that any unpaid invoice automatically produces a payable claim.

A separate clause permits surety cancellation on thirty days' written notice to the Commission, preserving liability for defaults committed before that period expires. Do not confuse this notice period with the thirty-day final-determination provision. The instrument has an effective-date field; the annual license's December 31 schedule does not itself fill in or rewrite the bond's period.

Have these ready

  1. Obtain the current Commission request and its promoter bond form.
  2. Use the promoter's legal applicant name; the 2026 license application separately asks for the promotion's name.
  3. Match the $10,000 request, full Commission obligee name and effective date.
  4. Check principal and surety execution and the cancellation/prior-default language.
  5. Prepare the separate event permit, contracts, insurance and financial-reporting materials using current Commission directions.

Questions about this bond

Does this only secure taxes?

No. The form lists several kinds of monetary loss associated with the approved promotion, including specified event participants and directly related debts or State taxes. Its Commission-determination condition is important; use the full undertaking.

Who must the bond name?

The instrument expressly names the State of New Mexico Athletic Commission as obligee. The licensed applicant is the principal; a promotion name on publicity does not automatically replace that applicant.

Why are there two thirty-day provisions?

One concerns indemnity after a Commission determination becomes final. The other concerns the surety's written cancellation notice to the Commission and preserves earlier defaults. They serve different purposes and should not be combined into a single bond term.
