Newburgh Heights, OH — Contractor License Bond

Newburgh Heights' published contractor rule uses the greater of $10,000 or $10 for each $1,000 of proposed project value as bond security. Confirm the actual Village request rather than assuming $10,000 is always sufficient.

What this bond does

Match the contractor or subcontractor's registration-related security under Village Section 1349.06 to the proposed work.

Who needs it
Applicants identifying the person or authorized business representative, actual trade and proposed construction value for Village registration.
Who it protects
The rule secures compliance with the specified building codes and indemnifies the Village and specified contracting parties for damage from failure to perform the contracted work or comply with code and lawful rules. It does not promise unrestricted payment of every construction invoice.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Bring the project value and the actual section requested

For application, have the Village request, principal/business authority, work type and proposed project value ready. Section 1349.06 sets a floor and a project-value comparison. Have the Building Department confirm the required amount; do not substitute a fixed amount from a seller's summary.

A separate provision addresses a Village-prescribed bond following a non-renewal or reissuance decision. If that is your situation, identify that request before using the ordinary security rule. Liability evidence is also separate from the bond.

Purchase Now opens Propeller in a new tab. Match the accepted Village form, principal, obligation, required sum and dates. After issuance, complete execution and the registration submission. Licenses expire December 31, but release of security requires Building Commissioner approval under the published rule; the two-year incomplete-work provision is not an automatic bond expiry.

Questions about this bond

Is the requirement always $10,000?

No. The published rule uses the greater of $10,000 or $10 multiplied by each $1,000 of proposed construction value. Confirm your required sum with the Village.

Does December 31 automatically release the bond?

That is the license-expiration date. The security provision separately requires Building Commissioner approval for release under its stated conditions.

Is a reissuance bond necessarily the same request?

The chapter has a separate provision for a prescribed bond following non-renewal or reissuance. Ask which obligation the Village is requesting before applying.
