North Canton, OH — Contractor License Bond

Confirm the present North Canton bond request before applying. The City's published Chapter 1310 registration checklist does not list a bond, while an older Chapter 909 document contains a $10,000 requirement. They are not interchangeable evidence of today's obligation.

What this bond does

Establish the department, work category and current authority for a North Canton contractor bond request before purchase.

Who needs it
Contractors identifying general, trade or engineering work and matching a written request from North Canton, not neighboring Canton.
Who it protects
Neither annual registration alone nor the old amount establishes the conditions of a current bond. The accepted present instrument must identify the secured obligation and beneficiary; liability insurance is a separate registration item.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Ask which registration requirement applies

The current Development Services page directs annual registrations to the City's online system. Published Chapter 1310 distinguishes general, trade and engineering contractors and lists insurance, applicable qualifications, RITA and workers' compensation or a sole-proprietor waiver. Its checklist does not include a bond.

The posted 2008 Chapter 909 ordinance contains a $10,000 item and public-property/curb/sidewalk/drive provisions. Ask Development Services which current provision and accepted form apply to your work. Do not buy solely because that older document mentions a bond, or assume the omission in Chapter 1310 abolishes every separate bond request.

Purchase Now opens Propeller in a new tab. Continue only after the present recipient, principal, purpose, form, amount and dates are confirmed. After issuance, complete execution and the requesting department's delivery instructions. City contractor registration, specific permits and provider checkout remain separate.

Questions about this bond

Does annual registration itself prove a bond is required?

No. The published Chapter 1310 checklist does not list a bond. Confirm the current written requirement for your actual work.

Is the old $10,000 document enough to choose a bond?

It is a 2008 Chapter 909 document with its own scope. Ask the City whether and how that provision applies now rather than treating it as a current universal checklist.

Is this the City of Canton requirement?

No. North Canton and Canton are separate jurisdictions. Match the recipient on the actual written request.
