What this bond does

Provide commercial license security to the Oregon Construction Contractors Board for a General Contractor Level 1 endorsement.

Who needs it
Businesses applying for, renewing or maintaining a CCB CGC1 endorsement. CCB permits this general-contractor class to supervise, arrange or perform multiple unrelated building trades on small and large commercial structures.
Who it protects
The commercial bond is payable to the State of Oregon exclusively to ensure payment of CCB determination orders under ORS Chapter 701. Its condition is satisfied when the principal pays the amounts CCB determines are due; it does not promise automatic payment of every construction complaint or project loss.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Details

Match the Level 1 general endorsement, not simply the word 'commercial.' CCB lists an $80,000 bond for CGC1; Level 2 general and the specialty endorsements have different requirements. A specialty bond is not a substitute for a general-contractor application.

Level 1 also has an experience qualification. CCB's chart calls for eight combined years among one or more qualifying key employees and describes permitted experience substitutions. The bond does not establish that qualification, and the requirement is not a statement that every owner or the RMI individually needs eight years.

General Levels 1 and 2 can perform the same range of commercial work; their different bond and experience requirements do not turn Level 1 into a project performance guarantee. If your business also needs a residential endorsement, CCB requires a separate residential bond. Commercial security alone does not cover that licensing requirement.

Use the CCB commercial form with the exact legal applicant name, existing CCB number if issued and the bond sum in both places. Obtain the bond agent or attorney-in-fact's original signature and attached power of attorney. The bond is one continuous aggregate obligation, not a fresh $80,000 limit each year; paid claims can deplete it. The form permits cancellation on 30 days' written notice to the principal and CCB without removing responsibility for the covered prior work period.

Purchase Now opens Propeller's CGC1 application in a new tab. Prepare the business registration, Level 1 endorsement, confirmed sum and CCB number if issued, and review the completed form before paying. For a new online CCB license application, upload the company-specific bond and power of attorney with the full application rather than sending them separately. The bond must reach CCB within 60 days of the surety's signing date and is not valid for licensing until filed and licensing is completed. Keep the issued documents and CCB acceptance.

Questions about this bond

Is the CGC1 bond still $20,000?

The current CCB chart and licensing guidance list $80,000 for Commercial General Contractor Level 1. Use the current endorsement requirement rather than an older amount.

Does every owner need eight years of experience?

CCB describes combined qualifying experience among one or more key employees, with permitted substitutions. Have CCB assess the business's qualification; the bond does not certify experience.

Does Level 1 guarantee that a commercial project will be finished?

No. This license bond secures CCB determination orders under its conditions and aggregate limit. Project performance or payment security is a different request.

Can I use it for my residential endorsement too?

CCB requires separate commercial and residential bonds when both endorsements are needed. Match each form and sum to its endorsement.

When does the 60-day filing period start?

The commercial form ties it to the date the surety signs. Submit the bond and power of attorney with the complete new-license application; purchase or an intended later work date does not restart that window.
