Painesville, OH — Contractor's License Bond

If your request is for City of Painesville registration, its published instructions require an original $25,000 City bond and a separate form for each trade. Confirm that City recipient before using the option below; Lake County registration is a separate part of the City's work checklist.

What this bond does

Match the precise Painesville recipient and trade, using the City's published requirements only for a confirmed City request.

Who needs it
Applicants distinguishing the City's general construction, electrical, plumbing, HVAC or sewer registration from a County or other jurisdiction's request.
Who it protects
The City instrument addresses its code-related contractor obligations and specified damage to the City and parties contracting for the work. Those conditions should not be attributed to an unconfirmed County or other bond.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Check recipient, individual trade form and calendar dates

The City's bond says to check one trade and use a separate bond form for each trade. Its registration page requests its own $25,000 instrument and January 1–December 31 calendar-year dates. Confirm the accepted dates for your actual application rather than assuming a rolling year or independently backdating an issued bond.

For a confirmed City filing, the principal must sign. The City accepts embossed, foil or electronic seals but still requires the original bond, rejects continuation certificates and says not to fax the registration package. An electronic seal is not permission to replace original delivery with an emailed copy.

Purchase Now opens RLI in a new tab. First confirm its form matches the actual recipient and requested trade. After issuance, check execution and required authority attachments, then mail or deliver the completed City package under the current Community Development instructions. The City's checklist separately calls for County registration and County building permits/inspections; one City bond does not complete both authorities' processes.
